This weekend we had two visitors … Grandpa Kevin and Aunt Chloe. Grandpa was here for Elsie’s birth but went home while Grammie Doula stayed for a couple weeks – he flew in on Friday to spend the weekend and then drive grammie home. It was bittersweet to see him since we knew grammie had to leave on sunday. There were lots of tears (I am post partum after all) and now comes the true test of being a mom (on my own).
Here’s the bean all swaddled up with Grandpa.

Auntie Chloe arrived Friday night and was eager to snuggle the smudgekin …

Elsie was already telling Aunt Chloe about all the great things she had planned for the weekend – sleeping, eating and of course pooping. Auntie chloe was very impressed!

Our first dinner out with Elsie was to celebrate Aunt Amy’s birthday. It was a success – with only a quick feeding between dinner and dessert.
Today we had our first visit with Dr. Kamon, our pediatrician. Elsie was up to 7lbs 4oz (up from her birth weight at 7lbs) – she is a little piglet and they are very happy with this weight gain. Before this appointment we had a lactation appointment to check the breastfeeding progress – here they weigh elsie, let her eat, and then weigh her again to see exactly how much she is eating – we confirmed that she is a little piglet!!
After the weigh in elsie had to lay on the table for her check up – here she is relaxing before the doc comes in (with a nice little pose). All looks great – we did a follow up billiruben test (another foot poke) and the numbers are still headed down! This yellow-ish tan will soon be done and she will be as pasty as her mom and dad.
We have been calling my mom “Grammie Doula” – she is cooking, picking up and of course snuggling the baby whenever she can. Here are some of her masterpieces …
Home made mac and cheese – Yum!

Everyone needs a grammie doula – now how can we convince her to stay for good?
